All aboard for the Little Britain Challenge Cup!

A team from across the Lakesmere Group is preparing to set sail for this year’s Little Britain Challenge Cup  sailing competition, which will be held from the 15th to 16h September 2017.

Now in its 30th year, the annual charity regatta is a popular event on the construction industry’s calendar and as well as helping to raise funds for various charities across the UK, provides companies with an opportunity to sail competitively whilst strengthening relationships with suppliers, clients and colleagues alike.

As a seasoned competitor at the event, Lakesmere will be competing in the Class 1 races this year and will supported once again by supply chain partners Brett Martin, Hueck, Press Glass and construction organisation Build UK. The crew, which are already training hard, comprises team members from Lakesmere, its sponsors and customers.  After narrowly missing out on the top spot last year, Lakesmere won the overall Class 1 event in 2015 and the crew are hoping to build on this previous success by once again finishing at the top of their class.

The competitive races will be held on Friday 15th and Saturday 16th September, based in the new setting of Shepards Wharf Marina, West Cowes on the Isle of Wight.

Lakesmere’s Business Improvement Director and team organiser Rob Stearne adds: “As a regular participant of the Little Britain sailing regatta, we can’t wait to be on the start line at this year’s event and put all our training to the test.  We’ve got a great boat, a stalwart skipper and a fantastic crew, what could possibly go wrong?! Joking aside, good old-fashioned teamwork and determination is going to be the key to our success and we are very grateful for the support of our sponsors. We have our eyes on the prize of course but whether we win the silverware or not, we will give it our all and at the end of the day we can feel proud of getting involved and doing our bit for the extremely worthwhile charities that the regatta supports.”
