Stadia & Leisure

Market Overview

The leisure sector continues to be big business for the construction industry and McMullen, in partnership with Lakesmere, can provide a ‘one stop shop’ for sports and leisure venues, to fulfil the complex and visually enticing facades which these venues require.

As well as enjoying significant boost as part of the preparation for the Olympics, the stadia and leisure market continues to thrive with support from both commercial developers and local authorities, with many projects forming part of wider regeneration programmes. The trend towards multi-use leisure stadia and arenas that provide revenue throughout the year and all-in-one leisure complexes that combine entertainment facilities with restaurants and hotels, has also helped raise the profile of the sector that often enjoys as much public scrutiny as it does investment.

Skills & Expertise

The sheer scale of many stadia and leisure projects means that in many cases, it is the building envelope design that often becomes the main visual focus. As such, it is vital to choose a specialist contractor such as the Lakesmere Group that has the technical expertise, competence and confidence to successfully deliver such large contracts.

The combined expertise of McMullen and Lakesmere will be showcased at the new Resorts World at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham. This is the UK’s first integrated destination leisure complex offering facilities including a hotel, shopping malls, conference suites, spa and casino. The group are delivering an extensive contract of works which includes a curtain walling glazing package designed and fabricated by McMullen.
